Kate Harding studied Fine Art at Winchester School of Art, graduating in 2010 with first class honours. Her work has featured on UK TV and in the UK national press whilst she was still at University and more recently in listings in Country Life Jan 2013, Polo Times Jan 2013 and PQ (Polo Quarterly) Magazine Summer 2011. She has recently exhbited with The Osborne Studio Gallery in London and had local shows at Tidworth and Druids Lodge Polo Clubs.
A lifelong interest in equestrian sports and observational drawing of horses has given her an extensive mental library to pull from and her paintings are confident in their brushwork denoting this now instinctive understanding of equine form and movement.
Kate has ridden all of her life and competes in polo in England, riding and working her horses daily. Her strong, original style has developed through using the photographic imagery of equestrian sport as inspiration. ‘…I want to go beyond the photographic image and develop the sensuality of the moment through the use of colour and the movement in the brush strokes capturing a feeling rather than simply recording a physical presence’ says Harding.
Kate’s work is highly desirable to equestrian enthusiasts and increasingly in demand internationally. Portraits can be commissioned in this dynamic style as Kate works from a collection of reference materials, including video, digital imagery, direct observation and drawings. Clients are very welcome to arrange a visit from Kate to meet them and their horses to commission a painting.
